.the fall peony.

.Danny hasn't posted anything, but I know he will find the time to visit the blog. So I thought I would post a reminder of my favorite fall flower - the fall peony, aka ranunculous. I posted about these not too long ago and provided a picture, then a week later they opened up (as you can see above). I LOVE THEM. So, anyway, now they have lost all their color and are dead....~sigh~...yet I still haven't removed them from the vase...~double sigh~.

.The Decoupling of the Decoupling Theory.

.my friend at ArtSpark Theatre created this very interesting piece. This should be on the front of The Economist.

.who thought the Decoupling Theory had any legs??? The whole globe is more intertwined than anyone would expect. There is no where to hide.

.I love the industrial water hose and deep sink...and while I don't really like doing the dishes, I think this makes it a lot easier to clean tall pots and hmmmmm, dogs??

.milly art.

.small painting I did in the Spring of this year. I see this as industrial China clashing with rural China..... Strange I know.

.Fall in Providence.

.this was taken this morning outside of my house. The street Dan & I live on is a historic gem and the tourists were in full force this weekend as it was Brown University's Parents Weekend... Nice day to take a walking tour, if you're in to that sort of thing. HA!!

.One Turks Head Place.

.Corner of Westminster and Weybosset in Providence.

.Downcity lighting.

.I took this picture this weekend at Downcity (a restaurant in Providence, RI). I love this chandelier & also their sangria! Possibly the best brunch in town. If you ever get a chance to go, I recommend the Downcity Uptown Crab Cakes Benedict...B.A.N.A.N.A.S.

.ALL I can say is that at least it is nice out.

23.10.08

.Bailey's.

.already starting to miss summer. Usually I am so excited for Fall that the end of summer doesn't phase me. But then last weekend, when I was hanging out in South County, RI, I realized that it was TOO COLD to go outside, which means it's too cold to go to Bailey's Beach Club one last time. :(

.tinfoil plane.

.more skydiving pictures. I'm no chemist, but I'm almost certain this plane was made of tinfoil. You know what I just realized?? I have no idea if tinfoil is one or two words. hmmmmm.

19.10.08

.skydiving, Newport, RI.

.max & sarah skydiving in Newport!!!. A group of us went up on Saturday, certainly not as crazy as bungee jumping, but definitely more surreal. more pics to follow!.

.kitchen & closets.

.so I found this great new blog today - Granny Smith Green. And on this blog I found these GREAT rooms!!
.The doors in the kitchen are fantastic and the closet is too die for. And I even think the owner has colored coded her clothes - ah, such discipline. Other closets can be found at 14 Karat's blog which were posted today...

.mercury glass.

.Via La La Lovely's blog, I heard about Wisteria. Really great catalog...I found lots of good gift ideas. I REALLY hate saying this, but I think I might start my Christmas shopping now.
.Aren't these acorns awesome???.

.Block Island, Rhode Island.

.Last weekend a brave group of us went to Block Island (3rd annual early Fall trip), rented scooters and drank Planter's Punch at The Oar. The weather was perfect ~ 70 degrees and sunny!!. Click on the picture to see the images better.

.quote.

.There are 10^11 stars in the galaxy. That used to be a huge number. But it's only a hundred billion. It's less than the national deficit! We used to call them astronomical numbers. Now we should call them economical numbers..

9.10.08

.fail.

.So I go to Decorno who posted a hilarious blog about subpar home listings and then I stumble upon the best website EVER - FAILBLOG.org.

.MY GREENHOUSE {rough draft}.

.I L.O.V.E. greenhouses.

.And I have always wanted a greenhouse with a cool bar area in it (see this post)... So one of my friends asked me to draw my "vision" tonight so I did. It's not exactly what I want, but I am just learning how to draw perspective so I can't necessarily draw exactly what I want. SO anyway....let me know what you think...

8.10.08

.Roussillon.

.so the pastels that I used on those drawings below are actually from Roussillon in Provence, France.
.They are called the Ochre Cliffs and when I visited there a while back it is amazing how much color you can see in the cliffs - purples, yellows, greens and even blue. As it turns out, the color is caused by the mineral goethite. I always needed/wanted to know that!.
.Another interesting fact: Roussillon used to be at the bottom of the sea.

.etc.

.FROM a forwarded email...

If you had purchased $1,000 of Delta Air Lines stock one year ago, you would have $49 left. With Fannie Mae, you would have $2.50 left of the original $1,000. With AIG, you would have less than $15 left. But, if you had purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drunk all of the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling REFUND, you would have $214 cash. Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle..

.fantastic.

.milly art.

.another Presdential debate drawing. I L.O.V.E. the colours.
.MEDIUM: pastel, crayon & colored pencil.
.Best advice I can give... START with pastels (a light color), PROCEED with colored pencils, and FINISH with crayons.
.{WHY: because crayons are waxy which means colored pencils & pastels cease to work....and colored pencils work on pastels but not vice-a-versa.}.
.PS: click on the image to see ALL the colours .. ~ .. up close and person-ah-lay.

.milly.

.another milly ridiculousness.
.I draw/drew this one during the debate AND I have no idea what it/was about and I also have/had NO idea what I was thinking/thought when I created it. rrrrrrrrrrrrreally. really.
.this could be on a teeshirt that is sold at Urban Outfitters.

.Newport Bridge, Rhode Island.

.great weekend in good ole Rhody!! Here is a picture of the Newport Bridge from Jamestown on Saturday morning. Glorious!. Check out the Provencal blue sky....one of my most favorite things about RI. I don't think those boats will be out there much longer though...

.terrarium a la EDDIE ROSS.

.Soooo, I saw a terrarium on Eddie Ross's awesome blog and have been wanting to make one ever since.
.I got the vase from Jo Ann's Fabrics (oddly enough) and the moss, mushroom, clover plant and fern from my mother-in-law's awesome garden. The other ground covering is not moss, I completely forget the name of it but I bought it at Schartner's Farm. After I see how it grows I will eventually add something with color, but first I want to see the fern grow a little bigger.

.Schartner's Farm, Rhode Island.

.PUMPKINS.
.I went to Schartner's Farm this weekend and was amazed at all of the types of pumpkins they had. There were blue ones, white ones, green ones, mishaped ones...and of course traditional orange ones. L.O.V.E. FALL!!!.
